Lwengo District is located in Central Uganda, bordered by Ssembabule, Kyotera, Masaka and Lyantonde with 456 villages and 10 LLGs of 4 Town council and 6 sub counties with many ethnic grouping of Baganda and Banyankole origin (98%) with estimated population of 280,100; 90% living in rural areas, 10% urban areas. This is a predominantly young population with a high total dependency ratio (98%).

87% of the population is engaged in subsistence agriculture, 98% live in temporary mud and wattle walled houses, 67% literate, and have a limited access to health facility (68%).

Women have a relative risk factor of about seven times of being illiterate and face the brunt of bearing an average of six children.

Only five people out of ten in the village would have pit latrines with 1:4014 Doctor: patient ratio rendering the high vulnerability of the populace.
